What to Expect on Sunday at
Harvest Liberty Lake Church
WE 'RE GLAD YOU'RE HERE
We know it can be intimidating to visit a new church. That's why we want to answer your key questions before visiting to help make you feel more comfortable. We hope this information helps you, but feel free to contact us with any other questions you have too. Click the button below to let us know you are coming.
Where do my kids go during church?
We offer a children’s ministry for children ages 6 and under, and we love having kids and families as part of our church. All children can be checked in before the service using our digital Kid Check-In system, and volunteers are always available to help you get started or walk you to the right classroom.
Our Nursery / Preschool room is available for the entirety of the service. Children 6 years and older join us in the main worship service, where they learn alongside the whole church. We believe children benefit greatly from worshiping with God’s people—hearing Scripture read, singing together, praying, and sitting under the preaching of God’s Word.
To help engage our older kids, we provide activity sheets that encourage them to review doctrinal questions and answers and take notes during the sermon. After the service, kids can show their notes to a volunteer and receive a small treat as encouragement.
We understand that having children in the service means there may be some extra movement, chatter, or giggles. We don’t see these as distractions, but as reminders of the gift of families and the next generation growing up in the life of the church. That said, we are flexible and happy to accommodate families who may need to use the nursery for older children when needed.
How long are services at Harvest Liberty Lake Church?
Our worship service begins at 10:00 AM and typically concludes around 11:30 AM.
During that time, we follow a Scripture-shaped, liturgical order of worship that includes reading the Bible together, congregational singing, prayer (both private and corporate), the Lord’s Supper, and the preaching of God’s Word. These historic practices help form us week by week—teaching us how to listen to God, confess sin, receive grace, and respond in faith and obedience.
What is your worship service like?
Our worship is Christ-centered, Word-driven, and intentionally ordered. Each service follows a gospel-shaped pattern—God calls us to worship, we respond in praise, confess our sins, receive assurance through Christ, hear God’s Word preached, and are sent out to live faithfully in the world.
These historic rhythms are not meant to feel rigid, but purposeful. Over time, they shape our hearts, habits, and loves—helping us grow in reverence, humility, gratitude, and joy in Christ.
Why do you use liturgy in your services?
Liturgy simply means “the work of the people.” From the earliest days of the church, Christians have used ordered forms of worship to center their gatherings on God’s Word and the gospel.
We use liturgical elements—such as Scripture readings, prayers of confession, and assurance of pardon—because God has long used these practices to form His people. Week after week, they train us to tell the truth about ourselves, rest in Christ’s grace, and live in thankful obedience. We believe these historic practices remain deeply beneficial for the church today.
Will the service feel unfamiliar if I’m new?
Some elements may feel different if you’re coming from a less structured worship background, but many people find our services to be meaningful, grounded, and refreshing. We aim to explain what we do and why we do it, so everyone—from first-time visitors to longtime Christians—can participate with understanding and joy.
What kind of preaching should I expect?
You can expect expository preaching, where the main point of the sermon comes from the main point of the biblical text. Our preaching is shaped by Reformed theology and aims to clearly proclaim Christ, apply Scripture to everyday life, and help believers grow in maturity and faithfulness.
What does it mean that Harvest Liberty Lake Church is a Reformed church?
Being a Reformed church means we joyfully stand within the historic Protestant Reformation. We emphasize the authority of Scripture, the centrality of God’s grace in salvation, and the glory of God in all things. These convictions shape how we preach, worship, and live together as a church.
What does it mean to be a confessional church?
As a confessional church, we publicly affirm a historic statement of faith that summarizes what the Bible teaches. We adhere to the London Baptist Confession of Faith (1689), which helps guide our doctrine, preaching, leadership, and membership. Confessions are not a replacement for Scripture, but a faithful way the church has historically expressed and safeguarded biblical truth.
Do I have to agree with everything to attend?
No. You are welcome to attend, listen, and ask questions even if you are unsure about Christianity or disagree with some of our beliefs. At the same time, we value clarity and honesty about our convictions. Shared doctrinal commitments become important for membership and leadership, and we are always happy to talk more about what that involves.
What is church membership like at Harvest Liberty Lake Church?
We practice covenant church membership, meaning we believe Christians are called to commit themselves to a local church for mutual care, accountability, and growth. Membership is not about being perfect, but about walking together in obedience to Christ and living out the “one another” commands of Scripture.
How often do you celebrate Communion?
We regularly celebrate the Lord’s Supper as part of our worship. Communion is a gift from Christ to His church—a visible reminder of His finished work on the cross and our shared life together in Him. It is one of the ordinary means God uses to strengthen our faith and draw us closer to Christ and one another.
Are your services more traditional or contemporary?
Our services reflect historic Christian worship while remaining accessible and meaningful for today. You’ll find a blend of traditional hymns and contemporary songs, combined with Scripture readings, prayer, and preaching. Rather than chasing trends, we aim for worship that is reverent, joyful, and rooted in the timeless truths of the gospel.
How does Harvest Liberty Lake Church seek to shape people to be more like Jesus?
God shapes His people through ordinary, faithful practices—His Word, prayer, worship, fellowship, and the sacraments. By gathering weekly around these means of grace, we trust the Spirit to form us over time, shaping our loves, habits, and lives so that we increasingly reflect the character of Christ in everyday life.

We gather at Selkirk Middle School, located at 1409 N. Harvest Parkway, Liberty Lake, WA 99019. Parking and signage are available to help you find your way, and volunteers are always happy to assist.
